Soroptimist International

  • is the world’s largest service organisation for women in management and the professions

Soroptimist International of Germany

The first Soroptimist Club in Germany was SI Berlin, founded in 1930.

Soroptimist International

· is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with General Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council, United Nations (ECOSOC); Operational Relations with the United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO); Special List of the International Labour Organization (ILO); Official Relations with the World Health Organization (WHO), Official Relations with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO); Consultative Status with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Accredited to the Commonwealth as a Civil Society Organization.


Soroptimists implement projects at Club, Union and International level to promote

  • a culture of peace
  • education and training of women and girls
  • the protection of women and children against violence
  • health and well-being
  • international understanding through exchange programmes for young people and adults

Examples of international projects


Soroptimist International (SI) is the umbrella organisation with four Federations:


Club Life

  • Membership is by invitation. To be eligible for such an invitation, a woman must be working in a professional capacity or in an occupation with similar status or responsibility. Qualified women who are starting out in their careers, taking a career break or who are no longer working are also welcomed. Discussions and projects are inspired at the monthly Club meetings by speakers or presentations by the members. Members may participate in club meetings of any Soroptimist Club in the world.
